Sault Ste. Marie Music Festival
(formerly the Kiwanis Music Festival)

This year the Sault Ste. Marie Music Festival (formerly the Kiwanis Music Festival) celebrates its 81st year. Since 2005 the festival has been coordinated by the Algoma Conservatory of Music. Each year there are hundreds of participants in 7 divisions: Guitar, Speech Arts, Strings, Percussion, Piano, Voice and Winds. Guest adjudicators from across Canada work with the students. Students are awarded a certificate of participation after each of their performances along with comments from the adjudicator. While marks are not given, students compete for a large number of awards and scholarships. Winners from each division also compete in either the Rising Star competition (ages 14 and under) or the Shield Competition. If they meet the repertoire criteria senior students are also eligible to be recommended to the Ontario Music Festival and from there to the National Finals. Please see the application form for the registration deadline and review the rules and regulations. For additional information please email SaultMusicFestival@algomau.ca. Information about the provincial finals of the Ontario Music Festival Association is at www.omfa.ca

Deadline for Entries: Thursday February 15, 2018
