Courtney McDonald began voice instruction at the age of 8. As she progressed she transferred to the Algoma Conservatory of Music where she received training focused on the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum. Following this she pursued a career in the performance arts, graduating from Algoma University with a Bachelor of Arts in Music specializing in Classical Voice, and received the 'Award of Excellence' in Music upon graduation. During her years at Algoma U she also participated in the choir and was a vocalist in the Jazz Ensemble.
Following her undergraduate degree at Algoma University, Courtney completed a certificate program in Independent Music Production at Seneca College in Toronto, learning skills from songwriting and recording, to music business and marketing. Professional experience includes private vocal instruction and a position for several years at the North by Northeast Music, Film & Conference Festival (NXNE) as the Trades and Events Coordinator.
Most recently you can find her singing in the choir at St. Luke's Cathedral, which has performed at several prominent Cathedrals in England, occasionally as a soprano with the Algoma Festival Choir, singing and playing bass with The Wild Iris, and as part of the musical duo Stone Orchid. She is also well versed in the performing arts, having performed in various local productions since high school and then further enhancing her theatre studies while at University. She is also a founding member of Algoma Repertory Theatre and you may see her onstage from time to time.
Courtney is skilled in a broad range of vocal styles, and is eager to help students find their own voice and develop their own musical passions.
