Andree-Ann Deschenes - piano - Sun. May 7, 2023 - 7:30 pm - The Loft
Presented by Algoma University Music Department & Algoma Conservatory Concerts
The program features new solo piano pieces composed by Cassio Vianna (US), Jasnam Daya Singh (US), Bianca Gismonti (Brazil), Jovino Santos Neto (US), Kerry Politzer (US), Carmen Sandim (US), and André Mehmari (Brazil).
"This project came together mid-2022, and this concert will be the world premiere of these new works, combining several musical aesthetics including classical, jazz, Brazilian, and more. I’ve personally chosen these composers because they are wonderful pianists whose work represents how fresh and exciting piano music can be without having to be boxed in as one “style” or another. Working with them to bring this music to life, and having meaningful conversations with each of them about the project, music, and their work was an honor for me." Dr. Andree-Ann Deschenes
