Victoria Jones, violin
Victoria grew up on a small farm in Northern Ontario, Goulais River. She began playing the violin at the Algoma Conservatory Of Music in Sault Ste. Marie and as a young child it soon became apparent that she offered something special and would become a serious student of the instrument.
Twice appearing in the Kiwanis Shield Festival she was rewarded with first place finishes as well as winning the Sault Symphony Competition. Victoria has competed at the provincial and the national levels as well. Her last two appearances at the Canadian Music Competition at the National level resulted in first place finishes.
Victoria was accepted to the Young Artist Program in Ottawa at the National Arts Centre under the direction of Pinchas Zukerman for four summers as well as The Morningside Music Bridge in Calgary. In 2015 she also attended the renowned Verbier Festival in Switzerland where she served as Concertmaster. She accepted an invitation to return to Switzerland for the 2016 session with a full scholarship.
Victoria relocated to Toronto for three years to study with Mayumi Seiler and participate in the Phil And Eli Taylor Performance Program for Young Artists at the Royal Conservatory. Victoria was one of the Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Concerto Competition winners with a final performance with orchestra at Koerner Hall.
Victoria is now on the violin faculty at Algoma Conservatory of Music and continues to expand her repertoire and develop her unique sound and style.
