Don Ross is a Canadian fingerstyle guitarist known for his unique style that blends percussive techniques and intricate fingerpicking. He is the only person to have won the U.S. National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship twice (1988 and 1996) and has released numerous albums, starting with Bearing Straight in 1989. Born in Montreal to a Mi'kmaq mother and a Scottish immigrant father, he studied music at York University. Don brings a wealth of experience as a composer, touring musician, recording engineer, and orchestrator with him. After 30 years on the road, Don recently went back to university and earned a Masters degree in Orchestration from the University of Chichester (UK). In addition to his work as a guitarist, he also composes scores for film and television, and is the music director for a video game developer.
Julie Malia, also known as Jule Malischke, is a highly accomplished German guitarist, singer, and songwriter who lectures at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden, and organizer and artistic director of the Giengen Guitar Festival in Germany. She is a sought-after soloist on the European acoustic scene, known for her versatile repertoire that spans classical and modern fingerstyle guitar, and her performances at major festivals. She often performs with guitarist Don Ross, with whom she has toured internationally.
Her performance style moves between different styles of concert guitar, complex fingerstyle arrangements, and voice, singing original compositions with great passion and poetry.
