The Millwood Trio unites three of Canada’s most distinguished musicians, whose artistic paths have intertwined for nearly thirty years. Violinist Jasper Wood, pianist Gregory Millar, and clarinetist Michael Westwood bring together decades of experience, profound musical insight, and a finely tuned collaborative instinct, creating an ensemble voice that is at once luminous, sensitive, and compelling. Their performances combine clarity, warmth, and expressive depth, drawing audiences into a richly textured chamber-music experience.

Jasper Wood’s internationally acclaimed career as a soloist and chamber musician, together with his extensive discography and his long-standing role as Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at the University of British Columbia, contributes a radiant, virtuosic string voice to the trio. Gregory Millar offers nuanced pianistic artistry, honed through studies at McGill University, the Glenn Gould School, the University of Toronto, and the Eastman School of Music, and a performance career spanning Canada, the United States, and Europe. Michael Westwood has performed across Canada and in Europe frequently performing much of the standard chamber music repertoire and commissioning and performing many new Canadian compositions over the past three decades.

Over decades of collaboration, the trio has cultivated a rare musical chemistry, allowing them to approach the repertoire for violin, clarinet, and piano with remarkable precision, interpretive depth, and expressive nuance. Their programs encompass classical masterpieces, 20th-century innovations, and contemporary works, each brought to life with keen attention to detail, dynamic contrast, and the subtle interplay that arises from nearly thirty years of shared artistry.

The Millwood Trio presents chamber music as a living conversation—elegant, intimate, and deeply expressive—offering audiences performances that linger long after the final note.
